This article explains how to use the Split Package Contents feature in GelatoConnect to divide items from a single package into multiple packages. This feature is useful when handling non-Gelato orders that need to be split before shipping.

Important Limitations:

  • This feature only applies to non-Gelato orders

  • You cannot split packages if any print jobs are already in the shipment state

When to Use This Feature

Use the Split Package Contents option when you need to move one or more order items into a separate package before shipment begins.

How to Split a Package

1. Locate the Package

  • From the Dispatch Overview, find and open the relevant package.

  • In the Package Explorer Card, click Split Package Contents.

2. Select Items to Split

  • On the split page, you’ll see a list of order items within the package.

  • Select the item(s) you want to move into a new package.

Note: At this stage, no changes have been made yet. You’re only preparing the visual representation of the split.

3. Preview and Confirm

  • Once your selection is made, click Save Changes to apply the split.

  • GelatoConnect will create two new packages:

    • One package containing the selected item(s)

    • One package with the remaining item(s)

After Splitting

After saving, the system redirects you back to the Dispatch Overview. You can:

  • Search for the newly created packages

  • View each package and its individual contents

This allows you to continue processing or dispatching them separately.

Access Points for Splitting Packages

You can access the Split Package Contents feature from three locations:

  1. Order Item Explorer Card (via Dispatch Overview > Order Items)

  2. Packaging Explorer Card (inside a specific package view)

  3. Packaging Summary

Summary

The Split Package Contents feature gives you more flexibility when handling complex non-Gelato orders, allowing for better control before shipping. Make sure no print jobs are in the shipment state before using this feature.

Let me know if you’d like this formatted for internal training, PDF export, or integrated into another system.
