GelatoConnect empowers you to onboard customers and integrate their orders seamlessly through API or storefronts. Whether you’re setting up connectors for API-based order submissions or enabling storefront access for a self-service experience, GelatoConnect offers the tools to simplify the process. This guide walks you through creating customer accounts, configuring integrations, and ensuring smooth order management.

In this section of the guide, we will walk through the following:

  1. Create a Customer: Add the customer’s details and set up integration preferences.

  2. Integrate via API: Set up connectors, generate access keys, and configure lookups to map data from your customer to Gelato’s system.

  3. Integrate via Storefronts: Enable customer storefront access, provide login details, and guide customers to independently connect their stores and sync products.

1. Create a New Customer

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to the Customer Section
From your Gelato Connect dashboard, navigate to the Customers section on the left-hand menu.

  2. Click "Create Customer"
Select the Create Customer button on the right-hand side.

  3. Enter Customer Details

    • Customer Name: Enter the name of your customer.

    • Customer Registration Number (optional): This can be a unique ID from your own system for easier tracking.

  4. Save
Click the Create Customer button again to complete the process.

That’s it — your customer is now added to Gelato Connect!

2. Integrate via API

Set Up Connectors

Connectors allow the customer to communicate and send orders to GelatoConnect. These connectors act as a bridge between the customer's system and GelatoConnect, facilitating seamless order submission and management. Here’s how the setup process works:

  1. Select the Customer: Begin by selecting the customer for whom you want to set up a connector.

  2. Add a Connector: Click on “Add Connector.”

  3. Choose the Connector Type:

    1. Gelato API: The standard connector provided by Gelato for new customers. It offers a set of endpoints to facilitate order creation and management. This is the most commonly used connector type.

    2. SiteFlow API: A custom connector designed to emulate the HP SiteFlow API. It simplifies GelatoConnect integration for customers already familiar with or using the SiteFlow system. This connector is particularly useful for transitioning existing partners' customers to GelatoConnect.

  4. Create the Connector: Click on “Create Connector” to automatically generate the necessary details:

    1. API Key

    2. Secret

    3. Endpoint URLs for order submission and cancellation

  5. These details will be required for the customer to integrate the API into their system.

  6. Share Integration Details: Provide the API Key, Secret, and Endpoint URLs to your customer. They will use these details to configure their system to send and manage orders through GelatoConnect.

  7. Details on how to use the endpoints to send and manage orders can be found in the API documentation here.

Optional Step: learn more about How to Setup Lookups.

3. Integrate via Storefronts

GelatoConnect Storefronts enables your customers to connect and manage multiple eCommerce stores within a single interface. It simplifies operations by allowing seamless integration of stores and automating the order management process. Orders from these connected stores flow directly into GC printers, ensuring efficient handling and fulfillment. Merchants can add and manage stores from platforms such as Shopify, Etsy, and WooCommerce within GelatoConnect Storefronts.

Step 3.1: Enable Storefronts Access

  • Go to the customer’s settings in GelatoConnect and toggle the Storefront Access option.

  • Enter the customer admin’s email address along with their first name and surname.

  • Submit the details. The customer will receive an email with their login credentials for the storefront interface.

Step 3.2: Customer connects their store

  • Customers log in to the storefront interface using the provided credentials.

  • They connect their storefront (e.g., Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce) to GelatoConnect by following the on-screen instructions.

Step 3.3: Sync and connect existing products or add new products

  • Customers can either publish new products directly to their store from Gelato Storefronts or connect existing store products with the ones configured in GelatoConnect.

More details on how to set up Storefronts can be found here.
