This article walks you through setting up logistics for apparel production using GelatoConnect. You'll learn how to route apparel orders into the logistics module, generate shipping labels, and track carrier performance. By setting up logistics correctly, you can ensure each order is shipped with accuracy and efficiency—whether you're dealing with DTG, DTF, or embroidery jobs.
Connect Apparel Orders to the Logistics Module
To begin, your apparel orders must be routed into GelatoConnect Logistics. This allows the platform to manage shipments from label creation to tracking.
Logistics requires each order to include:
Shipping address
SKU, size, and color
Product weight and dimensions
Selected shipping method
Supported order sources:
Existing GelatoConnect workflows
External MIS/ERP/OMS systems via API
Connected storefronts like Shopify or Etsy
Make sure each SKU has its weight and dimensions configured in Procurement for accurate rate calculation and packaging.
For detailed setup steps, visit the [Getting Started - GCL] Integrating Orders into GelatoConnect Logistics.
Generate Shipping Labels
You can create shipping labels manually for single orders or in bulk for high-volume processing.
Manual label generation
Go to the Order View
Select Generate Label
Print and attach the label during packaging
Bulk label generation
Upload a CSV file with multiple orders
Or automate using the API integration
Each label includes tracking numbers, carrier details, and any routing rules defined in your workflow.
For instructions, see [Getting Started - GCL] Generating Shipping Labels (Manually & Bulk).
Track Shipments and Carrier Performance
Once labels are printed and orders are dispatched, GelatoConnect provides live tracking updates within your dashboard.
Monitor and manage:
Delivery statuses in real time
Exceptions like delays or address issues
Overall carrier performance (speed, cost, reliability)
This tracking visibility is especially useful for high-throughput apparel operations with strict fulfillment deadlines.
To learn more, review [Getting Started - GCL] Monitoring Shipments and Carrier Performance.
Set Up a Packaging Station
To keep apparel logistics efficient, create a dedicated packaging station—ideally shared with the quality control step.
Best practices:
Use scanners to read barcodes on job tickets or packing slips
Match items to the correct order before applying the label
Separate packaging flows based on SKU, garment size, and print method
This minimizes manual errors and speeds up dispatch time.
