[Organizing Production - GCW] Production pricing — AI-assisted template configuration wizard

Written by Juliana Maciel Maruri da Cunha

This article provides a comprehensive overview of the AI-assisted template configuration wizard, which streamlines the process of generating pricing templates from a customer's product catalog. It outlines the steps to effectively use the wizard, who can benefit from it, and answers common questions regarding its functionality.

What this is

The AI-assisted template configuration wizard generates a pricing template from a customer's product catalog. Instead of manually deciding how to group thousands of SKU combinations (blank garment × decoration technology × size × colour × print location for apparel — or the equivalent attribute set for any other product type) into a manageable rate matrix, you select the products you want to price and the wizard proposes an optimal attribute structure. You review, customise, and save — typically in under 15 minutes.

Who this is for

  • Anyone configuring negotiated pricing after a customer agreement is signed

Before you start

  • The customer's products must already exist in the Product Platform catalog. If you do not see them in step 1, finish product setup first.

  • You need to know the pricing model agreed with the customer — Regular, Tiered, or Multipage — although the wizard will suggest one based on the products you select.

How to open the wizard

Navigate to Product Models in the side menu and open the Customer products page for the customer you are pricing. The wizard is launched from there.

The wizard in three steps

The wizard runs as a three-step flow. You can move forward only when the current step is complete; you can move back at any time to revise an earlier step.

Step 1 — Select products

Pick the customer products you want to price together in one template.

  1. Use the search field to filter products by name or model.

  2. Tick the checkbox next to each product you want to include.

  3. The selection summary on the right updates as you go, showing the total number of products selected, the attributes they share, and example UIDs.

  4. Click Continue when at least one product is selected.

Prefer to set up the template manually? Click Skip to manual setup to bypass the wizard and go to the standard template creation flow.

Step 2 — Review AI suggestions

Based on the products you selected, the wizard generates between three and five pricing-structure suggestions and presents them as cards.

  1. The pricing model selector at the top shows Regular, Tiered, and Multipage; the model the wizard considers best for these products is marked AI Recommended.

  2. Each suggestion card shows:

    • A coverage indicator (e.g. "94% — 150 / 160 SKUs") — how much of the selected product catalog this structure covers

    • An expandable reasoning section explaining why the wizard proposed this particular grouping — typically based on technology compatibility, size relationships, colour or finish complexity, location combinations, or material type

  3. Select one suggestion using its radio button.

  4. Customise the suggestion before continuing:

    • Quantity tiers — click any tier value to edit it inline; use the add / remove buttons to change the number of tiers

    • Pricing hierarchy — drag attribute groups to reorder them; remove an attribute by clicking the × on its chip; add a missing attribute from the Add attribute dropdown

  5. As you edit, the coverage percentage updates so you can see the impact of each change.

  6. Click Apply suggestion to move to step 3.

Step 3 — Review the price matrix and save

The final step shows you exactly what the template will look like and lets you enter the actual prices.

  1. Fill in the template metadata:

    • Name (required)

    • Description (optional)

    • Customer assignment — assign the template to a specific customer now, or leave it unassigned and link it later

  2. The stats grid shows the size of what you are about to save: number of products, variants, tiers, and hierarchy levels.

  3. The customer products table lists every product in scope with its coverage status icon — review this to confirm no products were unintentionally excluded.

  4. Expand the Pricing hierarchy preview and the Matrix preview sections to see the final structure.

  5. Fill in the price values directly in the matrix:

    • Each cell takes a currency value

    • The wizard validates that values are positive and that tiered prices progress correctly

    • Cells you have edited show a dirty-state indicator until saved

  6. Click Save template to publish it, or Back to edit to revise the structure.

If you click Cancel with unsaved changes, you will be asked to confirm before the changes are discarded.

What the wizard does and does not do

It does propose an optimal attribute grouping that collapses thousands of SKUs into a manageable rate matrix, explain its reasoning, and validate that the resulting structure covers your selected products without gaps or overlaps. It works the same way for any product category — apparel, print, hard goods, or anything else in the catalog.

It does not suggest the actual price values, automate price negotiation, or apply external pricing rules. You enter prices yourself in step 3.

Common questions

Which product categories does the wizard support?

All product categories. The wizard analyses whatever attributes the selected products have in common, so it works equally well for apparel, print products, hard goods, or any other category in the catalog.

What happens if the AI service is unavailable?

The wizard falls back to manual configuration — you can still build the template using the standard flow with Skip to manual setup in step 1, or by going directly to the templates page.

How long should the wizard take?

The wizard generates suggestions within about 5 seconds for typical product selections, and handles catalogs of up to 10,000 SKUs. End-to-end, expect a complete template setup in under 15 minutes for most customers.
