Scope

This reference documents every field you will edit on a press record under Estimate Setup → Print Machines → Large Format → Sheet-Fed in GelatoConnect Estimator (flatbed UV, latex, and eco-solvent sheet presses such as SwissQprint, Durst Rho, HP Latex flatbed, Mimaki JFX). Roll-fed wide-format presses, sheet-fed digital and offset presses, and web presses have their own field guides.

Identification

Field

When to change this

What depends on it

Name

Display name on the Print Machines list, on quote route information, and in Excluded machines.

When the press is renamed or the label is wrong.

The press name on every quote breakdown.

Manufacturer

Free-text label.

When you transfer the record or fix a typo.

Display only.

Machine Type

Locked at Large Format Sheet-Fed.

Only when first creating the record.

Every cost calculation.

Status

Active or Inactive.

When the press is taken out of service or returned.

Routing.

Tags

Compatibility labels for rigid substrates, finishing, and product categories.

When you onboard a new rigid stock or finishing path.

Routing: missing tag → press excluded.

Physical capabilities

Field

What depends on it

Minimum sheet size (width × height)

The smallest piece the bed can register and image.

When the vacuum table or registration jig changes.

Routing for small-piece jobs.

Maximum sheet size (width × height)

The bed dimensions; the largest piece the press can image.

Only when the press is replaced or the bed is rebuilt.

Routing for every quote: pieces larger than the bed are excluded.

Maximum stock caliper

Maximum board or rigid-substrate thickness, often in millimetres on a flatbed.

When you fit a different print-head clearance or measure a different practical limit.

Routing for rigid-board work.

Maximum Width

Maximum imageable width (sometimes narrower than the bed when the print head's print bar is shorter).

When the print-bar travel is recalibrated.

The imposition the planning engine produces.

Non-printable margins

Edge area outside the head's travel.

When head alignment or vacuum-clamp configuration changes.

The imposition: pieces whose bleed extends into the non-printable area are flagged.

Operational speeds and labour

Field

Make-ready

Fixed overhead time before the run starts (load board, set vacuum, RIP files, run colour check).

When measured make-ready differs from default.

The Make-ready line on every quote.

Make-ready hours

Same as Make-ready but expressed in hours; whichever the editor exposes for this record is the field to set.

Same as above.

Same as above.

Output per hour

Maximum sustained speed at standard quality, in sides per hour.

When commissioning or annual recalibration shows the speed differs from default.

The Run-time line on every quote.

Machine rate per hour

Hourly machine running cost (amortisation, electricity, head wear).

When you re-cost the press.

The machine portion of make-ready and run lines. Often zero on large-format flatbed, with cost concentrated in labour and ink.

Labour rate per hour

Hourly operator cost.

When operator wages change.

The labour portion of make-ready and run lines.

Over copies

Extra pieces produced beyond ordered quantity to cover downstream finishing loss (cut, mount, laminate).

When downstream loss profile changes.

The substrate quantity and finishing handoff count.

Running spoils %

Additional spoils as a percentage of necessary quantity.

When run experience differs from default.

The substrate quantity.

CMY cost per area

Per-square-metre cost of CMYK ink at the Standard coverage tier.

When the ink contract or supplier price changes.

The CMY ink line on every quote: printed area × area rate × tier multiplier.

Black cost per area

Per-area black-ink cost.

Same as CMY cost per area.

The mono ink line.

White-ink cost per area

Per-area white-ink cost.

Same as CMY cost per area.

The white-ink line.

CMY click rate

Optional per-piece click cost layered on top of (or instead of) the area cost, depending on contract structure.

When the contract uses a hybrid per-piece rate.

The CMY click line when configured.

Black click rate

Optional per-piece black-ink click cost.

Same as CMY click rate.

The mono click line when configured.

White-ink click rate

Optional per-piece white-ink click cost.

Same as CMY click rate.

The white-ink click line when configured.

Ink coverage tiers

Multipliers on the ink rate by coverage classification (e.g., Very Light 0.70, Standard 1.0, Heavy 1.10).

When you re-measure how artwork density affects effective ink cost on this press.

The ink line on every quote.

Ink Type

Free-text label (e.g., UV-curable, latex, eco-solvent).

When you swap ink chemistry.

Display only; informs operator decisions.

White-ink allowed

Whether white ink is enabled on this press.

When the white-ink module is fitted or removed.

Whether the white-ink line can appear on quotes.

Impose files price

Per-file imposition / nesting charge added to prepress.

When prepress workflow cost changes.

The prepress line.

Preflight check price per page

Per-page preflight cost added to prepress.

When preflight tooling or contract changes.

The prepress line.

Things to know

  • Large-format sheet-fed pricing is dominated by ink area cost rather than per-impression clicks. The CMY cost per area field is the primary cost driver on most flatbeds — set it carefully against measured ink consumption.

  • Maximum stock caliper on a flatbed often refers to substrate thickness in millimetres (board, acrylic, foam), not the micron-scale value used on a sheet-fed offset press. Confirm the unit in the editor before setting.

  • Ink coverage tiers scale every ink line. If the artwork is classified Very Light at the configured multiplier of 0.70, a €0.50/m² CMY cost becomes €0.35/m². The tier label appears on the quote breakdown.

  • Plate-cost and click-rate fields on a flatbed record have no effect unless the contract is explicitly hybrid; leave them at zero if the contract is purely area-based.
