Scope

This reference documents every field you will edit on a press record under Estimate Setup → Print Machines → Web Digital in GelatoConnect Estimator (HP PageWide, Canon ProStream, Indigo web, and other continuous-feed inkjet lines). Sheet-fed digital, web offset, and large-format presses have their own field guides.

Identification

Name

Display name on the Print Machines list, on quote route information, and in Excluded machines.

When the press is renamed or the label is wrong. Each imposition record needs a distinct name (e.g., "Indigo 7250 — A4").

The press name on every quote breakdown.

Manufacturer

Free-text label.

When you transfer the record or fix a typo.

Display only.

Machine Type

Locked at Web Digital for this guide.

Only when first creating the record.

Every cost calculation.

Status

Active or Inactive.

When the press is taken out of service or returned.

Routing.

Tags

Compatibility labels for substrates, finishing, and product categories.

When you onboard or retire a substrate group.

Routing: missing tag → press excluded.

Web geometry and finished-size constraints

What depends on it

Web Width

The roll width loaded on the press, in millimetres.

When you load a different roll width or commission a new feeder.

Imposition: signatures wider than the web are excluded.

Cutoff Length

The signature length at which the cutter trims the web.

When the cutter mode changes; on inkjet, cutoff can be a software setting rather than a mechanical fixture.

Imposition: the planning engine matches each job's signature length to the cutoff.

Maximum / minimum finished size (width / height)

Finished-piece dimensions the record supports.

When you set up a new imposition record for the same physical press.

Routing for every quote: pieces outside the range route to a different record.

Maximum stock caliper

Thickest substrate the press can run through the feed system.

When run experience or commissioning differs from spec.

Routing for board and heavier-weight jobs.

Operational speeds and labour

Field

What depends on it

Make-ready hours

Fixed overhead time before the run starts (thread web, RIP files, calibrate colour).

When measured make-ready differs from default.

The Make-ready line on every quote.

Make-ready material cost

Fixed paper/consumable cost added to the make-ready line.

When paper cost or threading procedure changes.

The make-ready material line on every quote.

Output per hour

Maximum sustained speed, in impressions per hour.

When commissioning shows a different speed.

The Run-time line on every quote.

Machine rate per hour

Hourly machine running cost.

When you re-cost the press.

The machine portion of make-ready and run lines.

Labour rate per hour

Hourly operator cost.

When operator wages change.

The labour portion of make-ready and run lines.

Paper waste

Web length added to the substrate quantity to cover threading and registration loss.

When run experience shows a different waste profile.

The substrate quantity.

Running spoils %

Additional spoils as a percentage of necessary quantity.

When run experience differs from default.

The substrate quantity.

Digital cost fields

CMY click rate

Contract price per CMYK colour impression.

When the contract is renewed or a tier changes.

The CMY click line on every quote.

Black click rate

Contract price per mono impression.

Same as CMY click rate.

The mono click line on every quote that uses black-only printing.

White-ink click rate

Contract price per white-ink impression on presses that support white.

When the contract changes or the white-ink module is added/removed.

The white-ink line on every quote that uses white.

CMY cost per area

Per-area ink cost (if the contract is area-based instead of per-click).

When the contract is renewed under an area-based model.

The CMY cost portion when configured for area-based pricing.

Black cost per area

Per-area black-ink cost component.

Same as CMY cost per area.

The mono cost portion under area-based pricing.

White-ink cost per area

Per-area white-ink cost component.

Same as CMY cost per area.

The white-ink cost portion under area-based pricing.

Ink coverage tiers

Click-rate multipliers by ink load (e.g., Very Light 0.70, Standard 1.0, Heavy 1.10).

When you re-measure how artwork density affects effective click cost.

The click line on every quote.

Ink Type

Free-text label for the ink technology.

When you swap ink technology.

Display only.

White-ink allowed

Whether white ink is available on this record.

When the white-ink station is fitted or removed.

Whether the white-ink line can appear on quotes.

Black-ink only

Restricts the press to mono work.

When the press is dedicated to black-only output.

Routing excludes the record from full-colour quotes.

Impose files price

Per-file imposition charge added to prepress.

When prepress cost changes.

The prepress line.

Preflight check price per page

Per-page preflight cost added to prepress.

When preflight tooling or contract changes.

The prepress line.

Pages and imposition

What depends on it

Pages per impression

Number of finished pages produced per impression. A 4-up A4 record carries 8 pages per impression (4 per side).

When you create a new imposition record for the same physical press.

Routing: the planning engine picks the record whose pages-per-impression matches the imposition the job needs.

Included steps

Steps the press performs in-line.

When you add or remove an in-line module.

The price breakdown: included steps do not produce a separate finishing line.

Things to know

  • A single physical web digital press is typically configured as multiple records, one per imposition (Frame, A4, A3, Journal, Digest). Each record carries the same machine rate, labour rate, click rates, and web width, but a different finished-size range and pages-per-impression. The planning engine picks the right record per quote.

  • Cutoff Length on web digital is often a software setting, unlike on web offset where it is a mechanical fixture. Document the practical cutoff used for each imposition record so the planning engine can match jobs correctly.

  • Ink coverage tiers scale the click rate. A Very Light classification with multiplier 0.70 brings a €0.40 click down to €0.28. The tier label appears on the quote breakdown.

  • Setting plate-cost fields on a web digital record has no effect; plates are an offset mechanism. Setting sheet-size fields likewise has no effect because the press uses web width and finished-size ranges.
