Scope

This reference documents every field you will edit on a press record under Estimate Setup → Print Machines → Sheet-Fed Digital in GelatoConnect Estimator (HP Indigo, Xerox, Konica Minolta, Canon sheet presses). Offset, web, and large-format presses have their own field guides.

Identification

Status	Active or Inactive.	When the press is taken out of service or returned to service.	Routing; Inactive presses are dropped before the candidate filter.
Tags	Compatibility labels linking the press to substrates, finishing machines, and product categories.	When you add or retire a substrate group, or onboard new finishing.	Routing: missing tag → press excluded with reason "no machine matches tags".

Physical capabilities

Minimum sheet size	The smallest flat sheet the feeder can handle.	When the feeder is changed or measurements show a different practical minimum.	Routing for short-edge jobs.
Maximum sheet size	The largest flat sheet the press can image.	When the feeder is changed or a hard limit differs from spec.	Routing for B2, B3, or oversize jobs.
Maximum stock caliper	The thickest substrate the press can run.	When the feeder kit changes or run experience differs from spec.	Routing for board and cover jobs.
Non-printable margins	Edge area the imaging engine cannot reach.	When cylinder dressing or feed alignment changes.	The imposition the planning engine produces.

Operational speeds and labour

Field	What it controls	When to change this	What depends on it
Make-ready hours	Fixed overhead time before the run starts (load paper, RIP files, colour calibrate).	When measured make-ready differs from default by ≥0.1 hour.	The Make-ready line on every quote.
Output per hour	Maximum sustained speed at standard quality, in sides per hour.	When commissioning or annual recalibration shows the speed differs from default.	The Run-time line on every quote.
Machine rate per hour	Hourly machine running cost (amortisation, electricity, consumables).	When you re-cost the press.	The machine portion of make-ready and run lines. Often zero on digital, with all cost folded into the labour rate and click rate.
Labour rate per hour	Hourly operator cost.	When operator wages change.	The labour portion of make-ready and run lines. On digital presses, this is often where the bulk of the running cost lives.
Over copies	Extra sheets produced beyond ordered quantity to cover downstream finishing loss.	When downstream loss profile changes.	The substrate quantity and finishing handoff count.
Running spoils %	Sheets spoiled during the run, as a percentage of necessary quantity.	When run experience shows a different spoils profile.	The substrate quantity.

Digital-specific cost fields

CMY click rate	Contract price per single CMYK colour impression (one side of one sheet).	When the manufacturer contract is renewed or a tier changes.	The CMY click line on every digital quote.

CMY cost per area	Per-area ink cost component (in addition to or instead of the per-click rate, depending on contract structure).	When the contract is renewed under an area-based model.	The CMY cost portion when configured to use area-based pricing.
Black cost per area	Per-area black-ink cost component.	Same as CMY cost per area.	The mono cost portion when configured to use area-based pricing.

Ink coverage tiers	Multipliers on the click rate by ink load (e.g., Very Light 0.70, Standard 1.0, Heavy 1.10).	When you re-measure how artwork density affects your effective click cost.	The click line on every digital quote: chosen-tier multiplier × click rate × impressions.
Ink Type	Free-text label for the ink technology (e.g., ElectroInk, dry toner, eco-solvent).	When you swap ink technology.	Display only; informs operator about the press's ink family.
White-ink allowed	Whether white ink is available on this press.	When the white-ink station is fitted, removed, or restricted.	Whether the white-ink line can appear on quotes from this press.

Impose files price	Per-file imposition charge added to prepress.	When prepress workflow cost changes.	The prepress line on every quote.

Run-speed overrides (card view)

Things to know

Click rates are per impression. A 4/4 sheet registers two clicks (one per side), not one click for the sheet.
The Black-ink only setting overrides the CMY click rate entirely. Use it on dedicated black presses where leaving the CMY rate non-zero would distort routing math.
Ink coverage tiers scale the click rate. If the artwork is classified Very Light at the configured multiplier of 0.70, a €0.008 click becomes €0.0056. The tier label is shown on the quote breakdown.
The Labour rate per hour field is where the operator and supervisor cost typically lives on a digital record — Machine rate per hour is often zero. Do not double-count by also folding labour into the click rate.
