This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to use the scanning functionality within the platform, covering various scenarios and troubleshooting tips.


Understanding Scanner Functionality

Before you begin scanning, it's important to ensure that your scanner's language settings match your keyboard's language settings. This alignment is crucial for accurate barcode and QR code recognition. Mismatched language settings can lead to scanning errors, preventing the successful processing of orders during packaging.


Scanning on the Desktop App

Our desktop application offers seamless barcode scanning using your hand scanner. This functionality is active on several pages, including:

  • Packaging Page (recommended for daily use)

  • Dispatch

  • Print Summary

  • Multi-Job Summary

  • Book Overview

  • Plate Matching

  • Box Overview

  • Package Check

  • Verify Scanner

To initiate scanning on these pages, simply click anywhere within the app to bring it into focus and proceed with scanning. A notification displaying the scanned barcode will appear in the bottom right corner upon successful scanning.


Scanner Connection Modes

Default Mode

In most cases, your scanner will function seamlessly in default mode without requiring any additional configuration.

COM Device Mode

If you've switched your scanner to COM device mode or if you're experiencing scanning issues such as empty barcodes, you can reconnect your scanner by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the 'Settings' page.

  2. Go to the 'Scan' section.

  3. Locate your scanner model.

  4. Scan the barcode on the left side of the scanner model.

This process will return your scanner to default mode.


Scanning on the Mobile App

Our mobile app allows you to utilize your smartphone camera for scanning print jobs and accessing print job details. Follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the 'Search' icon located at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Select the 'Barcode' icon.

  3. Adjust the camera preview and settings as needed.


Scanning Orders Without Printed Items

To scan orders that don't include printed items, such as orders containing only frames, hangers, or envelopes, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the 'Dispatch' page.

  2. In the table selection area, click on the last column labeled 'Non Print Jobs'.

  3. Locate the 'Scan' column within that table.

  4. Trigger the scanning of the barcode for the desired job.


Manual Barcode Input

In situations where you encounter scanner issues, we provide alternative methods for barcode input:

  • Manual Form: On the 'Dispatch' page, click the button with the barcode icon, enter the barcode manually, and click 'Submit'.

  • Search Card: Access the scan function through the search card's 'Get packaging label' button.

  • Print Summary Page: Utilize the 'Print another shipping label' button on the print summary page to open the scan function.


Troubleshooting Scanning Issues

For assistance with scanning problems, refer to the scanning section on our troubleshooting page. You can verify your scanner using our provided barcodes or scan any barcode and check the output in the console next to the barcodes.
