The reprint functionality in Workflow Builder streamlines how teams handle order issues that require reprinting, such as quality defects. With reprints integrated into your batching logic, your production processes remain consistent and efficient. This article guides you through enabling reprint batching, submitting reprint requests from multiple interfaces, and managing reprint batches once they’ve been triggered.

Setting Up Reprint Functionality in Workflow Builder

To integrate reprint handling into your workflow, begin by configuring your Batch activity:

  • Insert the Batch Activity: If your workflow doesn’t already contain one, drag the Batch activity into the workflow canvas.

  • Enable Reprint Batch Grouping: In the Batch activity’s settings panel, scroll to the bottom and switch on the Enable reprint batch group toggle.

  • Maintain Grouping Logic: When this option is active, reprinted items will be grouped into a dedicated reprint batch. Any existing “Batch by” parameters—such as order item ID—will still apply, ensuring consistency across standard and reprint batches.

Submitting a Reprint from the Production Station

Operators working from a production station can initiate a reprint request with the following steps:

  • Identify the Job: Locate the relevant Print Job ID that requires reprinting.

  • Submit the Reprint: In the side panel, select Report a reprint.

  • Fill Out Details:

    • Enter the reason (e.g. quality issue)

    • Adjust the quantity if necessary

    • Optionally, add comments, upload images, or include additional print jobs

  • Submit: The system will generate a reprint ticket.

  • Manager Notification: A notification is sent to the Communication Center. If batching is not used in the workflow, the reprint order will go directly to production.

Submitting a Reprint via Dispatch Overview or Production Tracker

Reprints can also be requested outside the production station:

  • Find the Job:

    • In Dispatch Overview, use the search bar to paste the Print Job ID

    • In Production Tracker, locate and select the job

  • Report Reprint: Click Report reprint

  • Enter Request Details:

    • Modify quantities as needed

    • Add related print jobs

    • Include comments or images

  • Send Request: After submission, a confirmation message appears

  • Manager Notification: A ticket is created, and the manager is notified via the Communication Center. A new workflow is automatically generated and sent to production.

Managing and Releasing Reprint Batches

Once a reprint request is submitted and the workflow contains a batch activity, managers can manage reprint batches manually:

  • Early Release (Optional):

    • Go to the Workflows page

    • Open the Batches section

    • Locate the batch with the reprint

    • Select Release to send it to production

If the Reprint Batch Group toggle wasn’t enabled during setup, reprinted items are treated as regular batch items and released with the rest of the batch.

Ensuring Smooth Reprint Processing

The reprint feature in Workflow Builder is designed to minimize disruption in your operations. Whether handled automatically or manually, reprint orders maintain the logic of your established workflow, reducing errors and improving turnaround time.
