To give you clearer and more reliable delivery information, GelatoConnect Procurement now uses a smarter system that updates delivery estimates as your order progresses. Instead of relying on a fixed date, this new method dynamically calculates the delivery timeline using supplier lead times, historical performance, and real-time tracking from logistics providers. This article explains how the new delivery date estimation works at each stage of your order and what you can expect to see.

How Delivery Dates Are Estimated at Each Stage

When the Order Is Confirmed

At the moment your supplier confirms an order, an initial Estimated Delivery window is displayed. This window gives you an early forecast to help with planning.

  • How the estimate is calculated:

    • Earliest Date: Based on the supplier’s stated order lead time.

    • Latest Date: Based on the median delivery time for previous orders from the same supplier to your location.

    • Fallback logic: If historical data is unavailable, the system uses a default window based on the supplier’s average performance.

  • How the estimate appears:

    • If the earliest and latest dates are identical:

      • Est. Delivery: August 5, 2025

    • If they differ:

      • Est. Delivery: August 5 - August 7, 2025

When the Order Is In Transit

Once the supplier updates the order status to “In Transit” and submits valid shipping details, the estimate becomes dynamic and live.

  • How the estimate is calculated:

    • Suppliers must enter both a Logistics Provider (e.g., DHL, FedEx) and a Tracking Code.

    • GelatoConnect connects directly with the logistics provider to retrieve the carrier’s real-time delivery estimate.

  • How the estimate appears:

    • A single live delivery date replaces the earlier date range:

      • Est. Delivery: August 6, 2025

  • Fallback logic:

    • If tracking data is temporarily unavailable or unsupported, the system reverts to the initial range and includes a notification:

      • Est. Delivery: August 5 - August 7, 2025

When the Order Is Delivered or Verified

After the order is marked as delivered, the final date is confirmed and permanently recorded to improve accuracy for future orders.

  • How it works:

    • When the shipping carrier marks an item as delivered, you’ll receive an automated prompt to verify delivery in the GelatoConnect portal.

    • You can then enter the exact date you received the goods.

  • Final display:

    • Once confirmed, the system updates your order history with the final delivery date.

FAQ

What happens if the logistics provider isn’t supported?
The system will fall back to showing the earlier estimated delivery range and notify you that live tracking isn’t available.

Can I update the final delivery date later?
Yes, once you verify the order in GelatoConnect, you can enter the exact date you received the shipment.

Why is there a delivery range instead of a single date?
The range provides flexibility by accounting for possible variations based on lead times and historical trends.

Will this system impact my current workflow?
No action is needed from your side to see the updated delivery estimations—they update automatically as your order progresses.
