This article walks you through connecting a Shopify store to Store Link: installing the app, completing the OAuth handshake, enabling the app embed in your active theme, and verifying the connection.
Before you start
You have admin access to the Shopify store you want to connect.
Your Store Link account is set up. See Getting started as a Direct PSP, Agency PSP, or Reseller PSP.
You know which Shopify theme this store uses. (Most popular themes are supported — see the list in Step 3.)
Step 1 — Install the app
Open the Store Link app from your Store Link dashboard, or install it directly from the Shopify App Store. Approve the permissions Shopify asks for. The app lands in your Shopify admin.
Step 2 — Connect the store
Shopify runs an OAuth handshake to connect your store to Store Link. Approve the permissions and you'll be redirected back to your Store Link dashboard.
Important: stay logged into the Shopify admin account that owns the store you're connecting. If you switch to a different Shopify admin partway through OAuth, the security check fails and you'll need to restart.
Step 3 — Enable the app embed in your theme
For personalisation and live previews to work on your storefront, the Store Link app embed needs to be active in your theme.
After installation, Store Link's onboarding screen shows a deep link to your Shopify Theme Editor with the app embed pre-selected. Click it, toggle the embed on, and save.
The app embed is verified to work on the most popular Shopify themes:
Tier | Themes |
Free | Dawn, Debut, Brooklyn, Minimal |
Paid | Impulse, Prestige, Motion |
Other themes may work but aren't officially verified. If you're on a different theme and the app embed doesn't render, contact support.
Step 4 — Verify the connection
Back in your Store Link dashboard:
Confirm the new Shopify store appears in your Stores list.
Sync products.
Place a small test order through the storefront.
Confirm the order appears in your Orders list within a few minutes.
What Store Link publishes to Shopify
Field | Published |
Product title, description, images | ✓ |
Variants (size, colour) | ✓ |
Cost per item | ✓ |
Personalisation settings | ✓ (requires app embed enabled) |
Stock location label | Shown as "Connect" (does not display the Gelato name) |
Disconnecting and inactivity
Disconnecting a single product marks the variant as Not Connected in Store Link. It does not remove the product from Shopify. To clean up the Shopify side, either re-connect and adjust, or delete the listing in Shopify.
Disconnecting a whole store stops product and order sync. See Disconnect & reconnect a store.
Inactivity policy: Shopify stores inactive for 12+ months may be permanently deleted. You'll receive email reminders 2 weeks and 24 hours before deletion. Reconnect at any point before the deadline to keep the store.
