This article covers what happens when you disconnect a store or a single product, and when stores get auto-disconnected for inactivity.
Two kinds of disconnect
There's a difference between disconnecting a single product and disconnecting a whole store.
Action | What it does |
Disconnect a single product (or variant) | Marks the variant as Not Connected in Store Link. Does not change anything on the marketplace side. |
Disconnect a whole store | Stops product and order sync between Store Link and the marketplace. |
How to disconnect a single product
Open the product in your Products list.
Click the ... menu on the variant row.
Choose Disconnect.
Confirm.
The variant is marked Not Connected. Store Link stops publishing updates for it.
How to disconnect a whole store
Open the store in your Stores list.
Click the ... menu on the store row.
Choose Disconnect store.
Confirm.
What disconnect does not do automatically
Disconnecting in Store Link is one-way: it stops Store Link from acting on the marketplace, but it doesn't reach into the marketplace to clean up.
Disconnecting a product does not delete it from your Shopify / Etsy / WooCommerce store. The listing stays live with whatever was last published.
Store sync only reads from your marketplace; it never writes back to clean up old data.
To remove personalisation settings or Gelato-published metafields from the marketplace, re-connect the product and adjust, or remove the listing directly in your marketplace admin.
Inactivity policy — by platform
Stores that go inactive get cleaned up automatically. The policy differs by marketplace:
Platform | Inactivity trigger | Outcome | Recovery |
Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce | No orders in 3 months OR no published products | Store disconnected (not deleted). Email notification. | One-click Reconnect in the dashboard. |
Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce | Inactive for 12+ months | Store and designs permanently deleted. Email reminders 2 weeks and 24 hours before deadline. | Reconnect before the deadline. After deletion, products must be reconnected from scratch. |
Amazon, TikTok | Contact your account manager | — | — |
Reconnecting a store
If your store is auto-disconnected or you previously disconnected it, click Reconnect on the store row. For Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, TikTok, and WooCommerce you'll go through the marketplace's OAuth flow again. For Wix, Squarespace, and BigCommerce it's a one-click reconnect.
Need to keep a store about to be deleted?
Reconnecting before the deletion deadline keeps the store. If you need an exclusion beyond that — for example, a store with low order volume but high strategic value — contact your account manager. Exclusion requests escalate through CS Managers.
